Responsibility in practice.
For us, responsibility begins where we can make a difference ourselves: with our raw materials, our energy supply and our production processes. That is why we use regional material flows, develop alternative substrate components, generate electricity and heat at our sites and continuously optimise our production processes.

Raw materials in a closed loop.
We use only the best ingredients to make our products. We increasingly rely on alternative, innovative and above all renewable solutions for our soils and substrates.
The importance of and demand for these raw materials is growing steadily, which is why we do not just use many of these materials for our substrates but produce them ourselves. Only in this way can we ensure the highest quality.
The raw materials processed at our plant include TIMPOR® wood fibre as a high-quality peat substitute, bark humus with the RAL quality seal and the finest nutrient-rich green waste compost.
In addition to these home-made materials, we also use coconut fibre as a solid ingredient in our formulations.
Future-proof production.
Our goal of producing in a more energy-efficient and resource-saving way led to a long-term investment plan. Since 2010 we have been implementing various technical measures to reduce emissions and optimise our energy processes.
A central part of our energy concept is the operation of two biomass combined heat and power plants. They run on fuels from regional forestry and generate electricity and heat. We use the energy generated, among other things, to dry sawmill by-products and process them into wood pellets. We also have a buffer tank that allows the heat generated to be used as needed.

Energy from our own roofs.
A photovoltaic system further reduces the use of biomass: around 5,000 high-performance solar panels cover the roofs of the production and storage halls. We are steadily expanding our solar capacity to make our energy supply even more sustainable.
This keeps the energy balance even and ensures a constant power supply for the production site.

Award-winning energy management.
With this energy concept we produce enough electricity each year to supply around 20,000 German households.
This result is why our company’s energy management system has been officially certified by TÜV Nord to DIN EN ISO 50001:2018 since December 2012.

Less peat. More alternatives.
The products of our PRO NATUR® brand contain no peat at all. Innovative peat substitutes such as TIMPOR® wood fibre or TIMPOR® Woodfibre Hydro make for innovative formulations and an even greener garden.
